What types exist?

On trade we find many #types of #polymer #clays, but in this article we are going to see the 3 main types best known and most used in the #hobby field.

Fimo

It is undoubtedly the best known and the longest on the market.

Of this brand it is possible to find, for sale, a variety of colors and #effects in addition to its more classic version called, in fact, #Fimo #Classic.

The #Fimo #Effect are those with #metallic or #glitter effects while the #Fimo #Soft are a softer of the classic version.

You can also find many tools to work this clay in the best possible way on the market, of the same brand.

It must be cooked at a temperature of 110°C (and not higher than 130°C).

Remember that cooking that in different ranges could change its characteristics and makes it crumbly and not very resistant. Remember also that a too high temperature releases toxic and dangerous substances for health. Therefore, it is always important to consult the information leaflets found on the packaging of these products and to use an oven just for cooking these clays as mentioned in the previous article.

Premo

Another type of pasta on the market is #Premo #Sculpey.

Compared to other materials on trade, it has a very soft consistency, easy to work without too many problems, perfect to create sculptural products without having any experience in the field.

Also this brand has a wide range of bright colors and effects, ranging from #metallic to #pearly; this makes it very suitable for the #creation of costume #jewelery items.

This product must be cooked at 130°C for about 15 minutes.

Cernit

Another product very similar to the previous ones is #Cernit.

With a lower malleability than those mentioned above, this material is recommended for those who already have a little more experience.

Also in this case a wide range of much more natural colors and with a very characteristic "porcelain effect" is available.

The cooking of the product takes place at much higher temperatures than #fimo.

A trick to make your creations made with this material a little harder is to boil them in water for about 20-25 minutes.

Obviously the ones I have listed are the most commercialized and used polymeric clays, but on market there are many other variants such as, for example, the liquid ones. These are mainly used to assemble small parts, give a shiny finishing effect and create a "creamy" effect, much used for those who cook fimo sweets.

Now all that remains is to experiment with the type of polymer that suits you best!

This is the end of the article about the #types of #polymer #clays on the market.

See you next time.
